Asking questions is the basis of collecting information. Asking the right questions is creative, useful and necessary for bringing in new dimensions to the communication. Asking the right questions is a fundamental competency to find the underlying reasons, to direct the discussion to specific areas or to prevent directing the discussion solely to the inquirer’s areas of interest. Just as achieving success in areas of coaching/mentoring interviews, performance discussions, determining targets, problem solving techniques and making decisions all start by asking the right questions, developing effective listening also passes through effective questions.
